Mr Eeid addressed his constituents at Hokitika. He complained of the want of encouragement shewn to gold mining in this colony as compared with neighboring ones, and regretted that no steps had been taken to carry out the recommendations of the Industries Commission on the subject of a Portfolio of Mines, which should be held as a separate one. A rote of confidence was passed.

Mr J. C Brown addressed his constituents at W aitahuna. He condemned the system of retrenchment adopted by the Government, but approved of Pyke'a action re the Otago runs, and ridiculed the idea of Mr Hall ever favoring the opening of land, or cutting up the' runs. A vote of confidence was passed.

W. D. Stewart addressed his constituents at Dnnedin. He said Government last session had no policy, but to keep in office at all risks. : The Redistribution bill had been cooked in the interests of their supporters. He criticised Oliver's figures as to railway saving, and said their comparisons were unfair and misleading. A vote of thanks and confidence was passed. :;.

; Tuesday. A warm discussion took place at the meeting of the City Council today over the Te Aro reclamation, and one set of councillors challenged others to resign and test the question at issue by a general election.

At the Licensing Court to day all applications for renewals were granted. Decisiona in applications for new licenses were reserved for a fortnight.
