AUCKLAND.
This day. A petition has been signed by 230 ratepayers asking that the Free Library may be opened on Sundays, and will be presented at the City Council meeting this evening. A singular .marriage took place this week. A long-engaged pair were to have been united in the bonds of wedlock on the Tuesday, but when the swain came to be looked for it was found that he had just married his fiancee's sister, a girl of 16 years. The other girl had an outfit prepared, and is now overwhelmed with grief.
