For the Love of God. ~ News Tia Fiji records a horrible massacre at the Line Islands: The London missionary society had established a station there, under a Sandwich Islander named Kabu. The natives on the southern part of the Island became dissatisfied with the missionary demands for copra and apostatized. Kabu preached a crusade against the heretics, and arming his folio weirs, attacked the defenceless people when the carnage was almost incredible— a thousand men, women, and children were ruthlessly: massacred, and atrocities committed on the bodies which were then piled on the beach and combustible material placed over thorn which Kabu fired with his own hand. Kabubas since been taken to Honolulu]to answer for his crime. At the annual meeting of the Moan atairi Goldmining Company, held yesterday, there was a small attendance. Mr Stone presided. The secretary read the directors' report, balance sheet, and mine manager's report. The Chairman, in moving the adoption of the report, referred to the varied fortunes of the goldfields' shareholders. They had, however, been in a worse position than their present one, for at one time they had an overdraft over £5000; Since then they dad formed a reserve fund, which had stood them in good stead. He then referred to the operations now in progress, speaking hopefully of the future prospects of the company. The report and balance sheet were adopted, and the retiring directors, Messrs Stone and Keals, were re-elected, and Messrs Fraser and Waymouth reelected auditors.
