Now is the golden opportunity; the time which if taken at the flood, will, we feel certain, lead ou to prosperity. Decided, straight' forward action is all that is necessary. We are sorry to hear such bad accounts from Te Aroha. The few people who held on for the battery are beginning to clear out, and the claims hare, almost without exception, proved rank duffers/ We do not, however, despair of the future of the field. There is undoubtedly gold there, and with the fine stretch of agricultural country surrounding the goldfield, it should some day become a town of importance.
Although shares are quoted at low figures it is generally believed that there will soon be a change for the better in the Tookey Flat mine. The Golden Crown is no* paying its way very handsomely. The Caledonian, under Mr Hicks, has been prospected with results which promise to better the prospects of the mine. In the Old Golden Calf, gold is contiuually met with, and there is a big chance of something good being unearthed before long. The Cure hare suspended operations, and we understand that the manager is prepared to let any portion of the mine on tribute.
