Pabis, May 20. The motion of Mr Bardoux for the abolition of the Scrutiu d'Arrondissement and the substitution of the Scrutin de L'este in its place was, after much discussion, adopted by the Chamber of Deputies yesterday.
Telegrams hare been receired by the Gorernment from the head quarters of the French army in Tunis to the effect that the advance of the troops has been rigorously opposed by the native Arab tribes, and that severe fighting has takeu place.

General Garibaldi, the Italian patriot, has writteu a letter to the Press with reference to the treaty recently signed by the Bey of Tuuis and Commander of tbe French forces in that country, in which he deelaros that the annexation of Tunis by France would be an insult to Italy, and that the French policy in that respect is threatening to Italian interests.

voting
At a banquet in the city yesterday evening, the Marquis of Salisbury made a speech, in the course of which he referred to the Irish Land Bill in disparaging terms, severely denouncing the Irish policy of the Government.
