Chbistchuhch, Monday. A portion of the census returns are published to-day. Tlie following are the totals for the principal districts, showing the increase since 1878:— Electoral district of the city of Christchurch, 30,972 ; increaae,6oCo. Lyttelton, 4127 ; increase, 651. Sydenham, 8459; increase, 1949. Heathcote, 11,6%; increase, 2333. SeU wyn, 2196.; increase, 525. Akaroa, 613 ; decrease, 29. The Borough of Sydenham, though shown separately, is also included in the return for the electoral district of the city of Cbristchtroh. •••••-* : DuNBDiN, Tuesday. Waikouaiti County. —Males, 1158; females,l9B4; decrease, 80. ;.T;Atf bei^—Decriise, 197, owing to portion of Wajkari Kiding beinjg formed into a borough. The population of Taieri County is returned at: Males, 4225; females, 3252.
