I am glad to learn that the hangingfjrall of th ■ reef is beginning to rise, and I na ve n° doubt but that in a few feet further it will resume its normal position. There is now three feet of quartz in the drire.

The crushing is still shaping poor, and there is nothing new in the miue. NEW GOLDEN CROWN. The mine manager reports:-" The baftery has been working iull time during the past week on quartz from all parts ot the mine. 40-fee? level: This drive has been pushed ahead, but the junction of the otherTeef has not yet taken place; the quartz, however, is crushing very. fairly, and showing gold. Herivel s leader: Stoping is being carried on as usual, and from fifteen to twenty pounds of specimens raised during the week. In the face of the drive going towards the Caledonian the leader is not more thau three inches in thickness. If no improvement takes place shortly I intend to discontinue this drive. There is no change in any of the other workings to report."

The manager's report is as follows :— During the past week, the stamps have been eugaged on tributers' lots and public crushing. These will be completed tonignt, and afterwards, before Saturday, I will get the balance of the company,s blanketings put through the berdans, and expect about 30uozs of gold. Belfast section : The stopes outside the clay band show no alteration or improvement. lam cross cutting to find continuation of the lode seaward of the clay band. The new-, work referred to in my last repoit includes a drive started on a veiy strong and promising leader situated about half-way between our Belfast works and Peaace's work in the Poverty. On this, ten feet have been driven westward of the crosscnt j*nd the quartz and country are equally favourable for gold, although, solar, none has beqn seen. I intend to keep four, men on this drive for some weeks. Poverty section : 1 he drive from the bottom of !N"o. 1 winze (61 feet below beach level), is in 30 feet, and still nothing like the Duke's leader has been met with. I suspect the Duke's has got pinched, aad is represented by a small black mineral vein about fourteen feet from the bottom of the winge. This morning I have suspended the crossifut, and started driving eastward on the "Wte.xeferred to. Pearce's party are ge|npS|||j«^specimens. Teutonic: There is dc^(Hm^ 0 note !Q l^s division. Junction^^H^^Brface veins are giving a few specimeiPßHfeod general stuff as usual. Tributesf^HMCge crushed for 4500zs 12dwts; Jafflfßjftogs 12dwts; Corin, 49ozs 6dwts; 32ozs ALBUJRNIA;' '^|l The manager states that the crosscut at 70ft level Trpassing through hardt&al^. At the Whau level the lode continueal^ show gold. GOLD RETUIiNS. Keijben Paeb.—A crushing for George and party produced loz ldwt gold. Ooliban. —A crushing for Huuter and pariy realised 44fozs gold.
