A civil action brought by Government against Whitelaw, relative to Mrs Kettle's (his mother) salary as matron, which was alleged bad been received by Whitelaw, aud not accounted for, has been dropped, Mrs Kettle having signed document giving a full discharge for same. Whitelaw lias been since committed for ill treatment to a patient, but to-day ob'ained necessary bail, and Was liberated.
