Mrs Donkin, whose husband had deserted her and his eight children, wrote asking the Council to repair the roof her house, as it r'afforded no protection from. the weather.-—Referred to the Charitable Aid Committee. CBOSBINGS. Mr Macky wrote calling attention to a dangerous crossing in Queen street, near the gas works.—Referred to Works Committee. Mr McLeay wrote applying for permis*

FINANCE. The report of the Finance Committee recommended the payment of £317. LIBBABY COMMITTEE. Cr Speight and Mr T. L. Murray were elected members of the Library Committee. ■ -i - ' PETITION. A number of residents of Mackay street, between Sealey and Mary streets, petitioned the Council, through Cr Veale, that their footpath be repaired.—Referred to the Works Committee. footpaths. : : Cr McGowan moved that the Works Committee inspect the various footpaths of the Borousjh, and see what is necessary to be done to them, before the wet weather sets in.—Carried. EEPOBT OF WATER COMMITTEE. This was read as follows:—The Com mittee hare the honor to report that upon receipt of the. attached opinion from Mr Tyler, they at once notified Messrs Spencer, Perry, Flett, Townsend, and Tonkin that the amounts due by them to the Council for water used by them from the water mains would have to be paid on or before the 30th of April. Up to the present date no payment has been made by either of those notified. The Committee suggest that the Turncock be instructed to cut the water supply off the premises of these gentlemen after notice has been given of such intention, notice to take effect from the 13th inst.—The report was adopted on the motion of Cr Speight. > THE TUBNCdCK's BEPOBT, which contained nothing of importance, was read and adopted.
