New Zealand securities to-day advanced by to 1 per cent.; the present quotations being as follows :.—For 5 per cent. 10-40 loan, IQ4|; 5 per cent. 1889 loan, 106; 4£ per cent. 1879-1904 loan, 101. The markets for Australian and New Zealand breadstuffs and Australian tallow are without quotable change. The state of Ireland, is causing renewed uneasiness, there having lately been a marked increase oj agrarian crime. Telegrams have been received from Algeria reporting that the Arabs there are greatly excited over the state of relations between France and Tunis, and are showing a strong warlike feeling. The French Government has given orders for the immediate despatch of 50,000 troops to Algeria in preparation for, any emergency. London, April 25. Both Houses of Parliament re-assem-bled today, after the Easter recess. In the House of Commons, the Eight Hon. W. E. Gladstone made a speech in

which be referred in terms of deep regret to the death of the late Earl of Beaconsfield, and gave notice of motion, to come on in a fortnight's time, in favour of funds being votdd for the erection of a monument in memory of the late Earl, in Westminster Abbey.

In the House of Lords several Peers took occasion to refer to the death of the Earl of Beaconsfield, all expressing great regret at the sad event. In the House of Commons this evening, the Irish Land Bill came tip for discussion on its second reading. In the course of the debate, the Eight Hon Edward Gibson, Q.C., who was Attorney-General for Ireland under the last administration! made a speech, in which he denounced in strong terms the provisions of the measures before the House.

Both Houses of Parliament adjourned this evening until 9 p.m. to-morrow (Tuesday), as a tribute of respect to the memory of the late Earl of Beaconsfield.

The Council of the province of Samara, district of Volga, Russia, has refused to vote the Boyal address on the Czar's accession to the throne, but demands popular representation. Other Provincial Councils will probably follow the example set by the Council of Samara.

The Porte has received information from Dervish Pasha, stating that since the defeat which he inflicted on the insurgent Albanian at Uskiop last week, he has pushed on with his force, and has not entered the Albanian town of Poisrend. Dervish Pasha, moreover, announced that owing to the defeat of the insurgents, the Albanian L?a;?ue has completely collapsed. .'■ ■' ■
