This day,
The National Bank has received advice that the balance of the Endowment Loan of the City of Auckland was sold in London at £112. A few years ago bonds sold in Auckland for £90. Mr Clark, the Mayor, has sent to England for £250 worth of books for the Free Public Library, absorbing the whole of his honorarium, although he had previously given the first two cheques he had received, amounting' to £50, to the [ public charities.
The police brought four cases against publicans to-day for breaches of the licensing laws. The cases are proceeding.
