The Komata Road.
Eeaders will remember that during the Hon. Mr Eolleston's . recent interview with Tukukino; the obstructive chief of the Komata, the latter was given distinctly to understand that the Government would give him a week to consider the offer made by the Native Minister, the alternative being that in the event ot the Komata chief refusing to concede, the road would be carried through nolens volens. This morning' Mr Percy Smith, Chief Surveyor, accompanied by Mr G. T. Wilkinson, Native Agent, and Mr Nepean Kenny, surveyor, proceeded up the river, probably with the intention of making arrangements for the carrying out of Mr Eolleston's intention/ This is probably the case, as the present administrator of Native Affairs is not the man to make a threat without having the fullest determinationof carrying it out.
