WAITETE.
A gentleman who returned from Weitete on Saturday reports that in Mr Jones' claim 180 feet has been driven, and about a dozen lodes, or rather sections of the big reef, have bean intersected. The largest of these is 12 feet in thickness, with fine prospects, and several of the smaller ones are likewise gold bearing. He has made arrangements with the natives to bring to the Owharoa battery ten or twelve tons of dirt from the 12 foot reef. The idea that a number of the principal claims should amalgamate is becoming intensified, it being apparent that a very large number of stampers will be required to make the vast quantities of low grade dirt payable. On the top a quantity of the quartz is worth from one to two ounces per ton, but this cinnot be expected to last for ever. McCombie and party have met with excellent prospects a mile from the Prospectors. .
