: The Thames Stock Exchange to-day received a telegram re the supposed " Haven G.M.Co. " swindle —referred to in our leading article—from the Auckland Brokers' Association. The latter intend sending a cablegram to London exposing the fraud, and send to their Thrnnes brethren for full pHrticulars. The local exchange met at once, and a subcommittee was told off to visit Mr Comer, to obtain from him a statement concerning the Imperial Crown Company's ground, which, it will be remembered, was purchased by Mr Comei 1 at the sale of the pumping securities. Mr Comer informed the deputation that the ground was now the property of the Southern ( ross, so it c ?uld not possibly be the property of the spurious Haven Company. The brokers met at three o'clock, and subsequently sent lull particulars of the result of their in restiga'ions to Auckland. In connection with the matter, we may mention that some mouths ago Mr A. Brodie received a cablegram from a member of the London Stock Exchange asking what interest a certain Mr Eicke had in the Golden Gate claim. Mr Brodie ruplied that that piece of grouni was the properly of the Imperial Crown. The rehearsal of the " Sorcerer" at Dr Kilgour's residence will take place at seven o'clock this eveniug. The: Nelson Colonist suggests that "one million Bepoys should be shipped to Ireland, to restore order there." Tiiti Thames Scottish Battalion will parade for drill to-night with rifles and sidearms. The officers have made the following sensible recommendations to the numbers, in respect to the approaching Waikato expedition : — " You are not to regard elegance, but comfort, wear the stoutest boots you possess ; everyone: should take a groj.t coat, a dark blanket (sewn at one end and two-thirda of the side with worsted), a.pair of spure socks, towel and soap, tin box of grease in the event of wet weather, a tin plate, a tin cup, and a knife, fjrk, and spoon. These articles should bo i packed up and marked with the name of the owner aud the company to whhh he b^longi." These packages will be takon in charge by a luggage guard detailed for the purpose, and as soon as the number of men of the battalion who will answer to roll call on Good Friday morning is ascertained tlioy will be toll off into messes under responsible non-commis-sioned offloers, and informed what tent they are to occupy. As it is uncertain whether any Thames .volunteers will be allowed to accompany the train conveying the Auokland volunteers, it is desired that every man should endeavor to join the column for embarkation on the morning of Good Friday. The playing of the Thames Scottish Band, under the directorship of Mr W. Hunter, was very much admired last evening. Many persons considered the band equal to many of the first-class regimental b;»nds of the regular army. The proficiency of the men is a compliment to Mr W. Hunter, the bandmaster. ' The Ooroinandel County Council hare decided to accept the offer of Mr Bolleston for a grant of money on the £ for £ principle.
