Thames Harbour Board.

The usual monthly meeting of the Board was held yesterday afternoon. Present—Mr Bagnall (Chairman), Messrs Brown, Osborne and McGowan. THE ELECTION. A letter was read from Mr J. Marshall stating that the reason he did not take his seat at the Board was, that he had received an opinion from his solicitor to the effect that his election was illegal. He inclosed a copy of Mr Miller's letter. Mr Brown moved, that copies of the letters be sent to the Borough Council. Mr Wilson seconded. Mr MoGovvan said he did not rise to make an amendment, but he did not think that it would be the beat of taste on their part. If the Borough took up a certain position and were willing to accept the responsibility they should not interfere. Harbour Board, re the communication sent by the Thames Board concerning the conduct of Harbour Board '•elections. The letter stated that the communication had been laid before the Board, and by them referred to the Finance Committee. The Chairman said he had read'over the proposed regulations, and thought they would meet the requirements of the case. : HAHBOE MASTER'S BEPOET. The report of the Harbor Master was j received. Ifc stated that the log in the j Shortland channel had been removed. Two stringers on the Goods Wharf were completely rotten, and had been replaced by new ones. Curtis' Wharf was in a very dilapidated condition, and required repairing. One of the piles at the Goods Wharf had become useless, and he recommended that it be replaced by one of the totara piles lying at Tararu, the property of the Board. SERVICES, ETC. The secretary reported the result of the opening of the tenders for the different services, works, etc., already published. The Thames Steam Navigation Company now offered £20 per annum for the Shortland Wharf coal yard. After some discussion concerning the repair of the Goods Wharf during which it was generally admitted that the best means of repairing the wharf was by filling in, Mr Brown moved that the Chairman interview the bank manager with a view to getting an advance for the purpose of filling in the wharf to the silt works. This was carried, it being decided that Mr Butler's tender be held over. The matter of the coal shed was referred to the Chairman. FINANCE. Accounts amounting to £108 4s 4d were passed.' . GOODS SHED. It was decided" fo write to Messrs Fraser and Tinne informing them that they must make some arrangements with the Board regarding the goods shed. Failing such offer, the Board, would deal with the matter at its next meeting. This was all the business.
