Thames Rifle Rangers.

There was again last evening a large muster of this Company on parade at their hall, Shortland. In the absence of DrillInstructor Lieut. Grant through indisposition, Captain Douglas exercised the company in a variety of movements which seemed to be quite enjoyed by both men and officers, Lieut. McFarland being present, and taking his place in a manner very creditable to bo young an, officer. •

Captain Douglas after parade again asked the company for a final decision re the Waikato Review, with the same result as before —this Company is determined to'stop at home and enjoy themselves amongst their citizen friendi. It is proposed to have a shooting match on Easter Monday, and quite a number of prizes are already forthcoming from friends of the corps, who believe they are quite right in thus stopping in their own district, and it is certain that the largest shooting muster ever obtained .will be found on the new range on that day. A set of prizes will be set apart for young shots. The day's enjoyment will conclude with a concert and dance at their hall, Shortland, where a treat may be expected, as there is considerable focal talent in the ranks of the Thames Eifle Bangers, which will be supplemented by many friends from outside. With new officers new life seems apparent, the musters of late being exceedingly good, and each night new members are introduced.

Ab an. instance of tbo anxiety*of some of them to do busings*, we understand that one of the local offic'-s tookvW? large sum (£10,000) on a flour mill in ttre-xjduntry at 12a 6d per cent., and the agent is now running eU over Dunedin trying, to re-insure a part ot it at 20i per coat., but cannot get it done at any price.
