Windfalls for the County.
The Warden has received an intimation from the Hon Mr Kolieston that the schedule of amounts suggested by him for works in the County out of the vote for goldtields roads and tracks has been approved of by him, and that a sum of £1,200 will 'be payable to the County Council upon the usual conditions.
Two hundred pounds of this amount is, we understand, to be expended upon the Waihe road, which will complete the track up to the newly discovered reefs.
£700 will be expended Tararu wards, £250 at the head of the Karaka, and £50 on the Hape and Otanui road.
The visit of Mr Rolleston has proved eminently beneficial to our County Council, but we don't hear of any sum being granted to the Borough Council.
The Minister has, we believe, expressed his willingness to have placed upon the' Estimates a sum of money for a bridge across the Waikawau, and £3,000 for a road from" the Thames to Tairua on the other Coast.
