NEW GOLDEN CROWN.

The manager has suspended stoping on the Nos. 1 and 2 leaders above battery level for the present, being poor. The men employed there are now engaged in sinking winzes from the battery level to the 40 feet to open up the block on the No*. 1 and 2 leaders, The winze on No. 1 is down 8 feet, and the No. 2 has just been started. No. 1 is a promising looking lode, two feet thick, and heavily charged with mineral. Very little quartz has been broken on No. 2, so that it would be premature to say anything concerning it yet. Herival's leader : Driving and stoping is being carried on here. The drive is now in 112 feet on the course of the leader, and leading stope has also been carried that distance, timbering, etc., being also attended to. The lode averages Bor 10 inches in thickness, and is producing good payable stone. In the intermediate level stoping is in progress on footwall lode, and payable quartz in considerable quantities is coming to hand. 40 feet level: The No. 1 main reef here is 5 or 6 feet thick, and is producing low grade, though pay* able quartz. The manager has driven 65 feet on the course of this lode, carrying the leading stope along with him. 170 feet level: The contractors here have made a fair start. The country continues tight.
