Melbourne, This day. In the legislative Assembly last night the fieform Bill waa read a third time on a division of 48 to 27.. An amendment moved hj Mr Gaunson, that the Legislative Council should be
elected ii 1883, was previously accepted by the House, but a motion by Sir Bryan O'Loghlan to refer the bill to a select committee was ruled out of order. Melbourne, Wednesday. Exhibition Awards. Moffitt, Invercargill, for bitters. The Age irj day srates that the Government intend to support a bill which will shortly be introduced io Parliament to exclude the Chinese from voting at elections. Sydney, Wednesday. Collapse of the New Ireland Immigration Scheme. The steamer City of Melbourne has arrived here from Noumea, and reports that the steamer India has arrived from New Ireland with 300 of the M?rquis de Eny's immigrants. Their provisions and watsr were exhansf .1 ; seven had died on the passage, and foi» ■ after their errival at Noumea. They report that the colony at New Ireland is virtually abrndoned. The immigrants of the India refuse to leave Noumea, fearing fresh deception, pud demand conveyance to Barcelona. They are entirely dependent for the common necessaries of .'ife on the benevolence of the Caledonian authorities.
