WELLINGTON.

This day. At a special meeting of the City Council, it was deoided to accept the offer of the Harbour JBoard to purchase the Queen's wharf, for the sum of £64,000. The Property Tax paid in Wellington district up to yesterday afternoon amounted.to £29,244, and the returns from the other districts give -the following amounts :—Hawke's Bay, £10,120 7s lOd; Canterbury, £46,892; Waifcaki, £8,240; Nelson, £6,872 ; Otago, £30,000. The returns from Auckland and Southland had not been received here last evening. The amounts above given are exclusive of the returns yet to come from various receivers in the country districts.
