CALEDONIAN.

The mine manager's report for the week is as follows:—" Since my last I have intersected No. 2 reef in cross-cut No. 1 level, 69 feet from No. 6 reef. ; I hare only had two shots into the reef, and so cannot tell scarcely anything about it.: It 3 footwall appears to be rather mixed up with the country. The quartz broken out is heavily charged with minerals, and looks very encouraging. Shall be able to tell more about it in a few days. 1 No. 3 level drive on No. 6 reef has made very slow 1 progress this week, the ground being hard and the quartz full of large cracks or vugs^ and the whole is looking heavier for gold, as the reef is. heavily charged, with a better class ot miuerals. Winze on specimen leader being down about 30 feet, I started to take do wn-the leader yesterday morning. Strong colours. of gold were found after the first shot,, which took down about four feet of the leader. The second about the same distance, and several blotches of gold could be seen in the leader. The first shot this morning discovered the junction of, No. 2 reef and specimen leader, where I got about lOlbs of picked stone and gold left in, the reef. The whole of the quartz broken out appears to be of. good grade, and should crush well. It is about 2|feet thick.—T. B. Hicks.
