In a murder trial in the States United a witness is (jiving his testimony as to the hour of arrival and departure of steamers on which the criminal is believed to have travelled. " Your honor," asks one of the jurors, "I desire to ask the witness some questions." " Very well," says the Judge ; " proceed sir." "At what time did you say the beat left Chicago for Milwaukee ?" "At 7 o'clock in the evening." "Sharp? .Remember you are on your oath now." " feharp!" " And yon have supper on board ? " "Yes sir."
