DUNEDIN.
This day
Adolph Morritzon, late clerk to the Standard Insurance Co., has been committed for trial on two further charges of embezzlement. One of the books placed in custody of the court was found to be further mutilated. It transpired that the prisoner and some of the Standard Insurance clerks have had access to it. At a meeting of the^Standard Fire and Marine Insurance Company a report was adopted after a leug-uy and warm discussion. The following motion was agreed to—" That the services of the managing director he dispensed with." A motion " That the directors call a meeting of shareholders for the purpose of considering the advisability of winding up the company" was negatived.
