OUR MINES.

Caledonian

The weekly report of the mine manager ia as follows : — No. 1 level crosscut is now in a distance of 55 feet, still going through splendid country, and we may expect JNo. it reel to hand in a lew days. No. 3 level winze on specimen leader is now down 12 feet in tight ground. The leader has not yet been taken down. In abou f. 8 feet more I expect it to join with JSfo. 2 reef, where we may expect something. I shall allow the leader to stand until the junction is effected. The drive on the So. 6 reef of the same level is now in a distance of 27 test. The reaf is still increasing in size. It is fully eight feet in width, and heavily charged with mineral. The specimen leader will join with this reef in about 7 feet more if they keep their present course. I should not be surprised to see this reef turn out to be a payable one after the junction is made. Paltridge and party crushed 15 tons for the splendid yield of 52ozs 15dwts melted gold, valued at £2 13s 9d per ounce : total amount, £141 15s 3d ; percentage, £24 17s 10d; hauling, £1 10i; leaving £26 7s lOd, which I have placed to the credit of the company. Obuglien and party and Johns and party are also crushing, and expect to be finished about the middle of the week.
