(To the Editor of the Evening Star.) (To tbe Editor of the Evening Star.)

Sic, —The County Chairman must surely have been telling Mr Alley what he thought of him, or the latter could not have penned such a libellous effusion as the letter which graced (?) your columns of Saturday last. The fact that the Ratikati Road District wishes to join the Thames County is satisfactory proof that the persons interested know that the work of the Thames County is superior to-that of the Tauranga County, MrAlley's effusion ;to the contrary notwithstanding ; or why should they wish to leave the Tauranga County and join the Thames- If I wished to draw comparisons between Thames and Tauranga, I feat a certain said-to-be farmer, whose farm is in the vicinity of Hikutaia, would not bear mentioning in thp same day as some I could mention in Tauranga. If your readers wish to form a correct estimate of Mr Alley's character, they will just take a look at an allotment which he sold to the Board of Education, on which the school is erected. The allotment is like the settler—all askew.— Yours, &0., Komata.
