THE NELSON RIFLE MEETING.
Nelson, Last evening
At a meeting of the Executive Committee last night in the camp, it was carried to recommend the Council of the Association to reduce the total prize money for. the carbine matches by about onethird, so-that the total should bear the same proportion to the number of carbine competitors as the amount of prize money for rifle matches to the number of competitors of that class. This decision was posted on the notice board this morning, and caused great dissatisfaction amongst carbine men, who subsequently held a meeting and determined to protest against the alteration of the published programme, on the strength of which they had entered, it being also understood that the Association was in ample funds to carry out their promises. This protest has been telegraphed to the Council, which meets tonight in Wellington. Mbte^No.-flh-Blflas.
