THE Evening Star. PUBLISHED DAILY AT YOUR FOUR O'CLOCK P.M. Resurrexi. FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 25, 1881.
The Thamea County Council have had an intimation from the Government [that it is intended to at once proceed iwitb. the line from Hamilton to Piako. We have been patiently waiting for a reply from the Hon. ¥. Whitaker to the representations! made to him at the Pacific Hotel by a deputation from this communtEty pouching the Kopu section. Months have now passed, yet no word has been received whether the Government will proceed with the; .section from GraaaiiiSjtown to Kopu or not;. A reply at leasV-the deputation have a right to expect, especially as Mr Whitaker promised in the most definite i terms that bis;' colleagues would be acquainted fully with the views of the deputation, and" that a reply might be expected at any early date. We are pleased, however, that a determination been.arrived in reference to the Waikato end,; and trust that attention will one day be given to the claims of this community, and the construction of this end of the line.
