At Purawat on Thursday, the numb.-r of cattle offered at auction was larger than usual, olufflyconsisting of <» seleotion of steers and heifers from Mensrs J. and O. 0-ould's station Waifoa, which speak well for t.he fattening capabilities of that district; thougb/of medium lize, primer, quality could not be desired. Bidding for each lot was brisk, and in some instances a few choicest quality steers advanced Is per 10 lbs. on late values. Sheep were well represented, in a draft, mixed s xes from Mr AUev's farm Hikutaia which sold freely at 10s. 9d. to lls. 9d. each. No lambs yarded, a few pens good quality would command fair prices. Best beef, 24s to 265. per IGOlbs ; nothing inferior yarded, sheep 2d to 2£d pei; Ib.
