DUNEDIN.
This day. Serious Accident on a Railway Crossing, A serious accident happened last night at Kensington railway crossing. A cab containing C. Armstrong, a. publican, Harry Mayo, a publican, Lyons, Fairburn, and Griffiths, was crossing the line about half past eight when a goods train from the South came up. The engine driver whistled, but the cab did not get out of the way in time, and the horse was killed and the vehicle damaged. Mayo is not expected to live. The driver escaped unhurt, but the others are more or less injured. The Cup. Randwick was scratched for the Cup. The weather is dull and threatening. 3000 persons are present.
