Last evening Australian Cricket Match.
The Australians were all out at 5 p.m. for 144, to which Slight contributed 51. No extras. Groube scored 12; Palmer, 6 ; Boyle, 24 ; Jarvis, 0 ; Moule, 3; Tobin (not out), 3. Mumford, near the close of the game, made ,the catch of the day. The ball being *.oo swift to catch, dished his liands, and it ricochetted being caught in the fall. The Auckland team went in at 5.30. Testro was out for 1; Arneil (run out), 5. When stumps were drawn Cox and Davis were in. Cox had scored 11, and Davis 4 —28 for two wickets, five being byes, and two legbves.
This day.
Play began at noon with Davis and Cox at the wickets. After a few minutes Palmer bowled Davis-33-2-6. Cox soon followed, being caught by McDonnel after getting 12 by. careful play. Mumford, who followed, was clean bowled by Spofforth's first ball. Lynch succeeded; made three singles, when he hit his wicket—3B-6-3. Woods, at the other end, was batting carefully. He was joined by Robinson. Woods gave Jarvis a chance, and the latter smartly stumped
Woods—7. Stafford, who succeeded, was cleaned bowled by Palmer, first ball. Kobinson, who continued getting runs, was joined by McCormick only to separate, the latter sharing the fate of his prede-cessor—ss-9-0.
