TEE TE AROHA MURDER.
A rumour was current to-da^ that Smallman, Marshall, Proco'ffi andyanother man were implicated in the".', murder of Himiona. The native opiniou on the matter is that the four men attacked the deceased, and that Smallman,S^arshall, aDd the ; third man held the*" deceased while the prisoner Procpffi. his throat. The natives stick most tenaciously to this idea, but i£ if impossible that Smalluuu had anything to do with it, as he was in custody, and was confined in the police tent'at; Te Aroha at eleven o'clock, when thg screams of the deceased were heard by t[he two witnesses who deposed to hearing them, ihe deceased's brother°Jwas injftown today, and seemed satisfied thas Srnalimau was "not implicated,; but he states that he will not be able to disabuse the minds ot his tribe of the ide,a: that Siuallman was mix* dup in the affair. Tlie Ngatihakos are much excited, and will attend the trial on Thursday in large numbers.
