Lydia Howards Troupe.

Last evening Earnie's bouffonnerie. " Nemesis " was introduced for the first time to a Thames audience. The Academy of Music was not so well filled as the excellence of the piece deserved. Miss Lydia Howarde sustained the principal part, that of Rosalie, and to our thinking was more successful than in either of the previous pieces produced by the company at the Academy. She acted with taste and judgment, and her every movement was strictly au naturel. In her "defiance" scene with Praline (Mdlle. L. de Grlorian) she was excellent, and the scene between them called forth the most demonstrative plaudits of the audience. Mdlle de Grlorian as Praline was good, and infused into her part plenty of piquant humour. Misg Blanche Leopold's makeup as Aunt Teurelette was very effective, and her rendering of the part gave the greatest satisfaction. Mr George Leo- ! pold, needless to relate, sustained ! the part" *jof Potiphar de Patoche in an excellent "manner, arid his life-like representation caused' ;rdars of laughter. Mr Power, as the ferocious warrior, Roland de Konceaveaux, was very good, and his imitation of the shrugs and lingo of the gallant Frenchman was most amusing. Oalino found an able representative in Mr B. Mowry, while Zidore de Pilloselle was entrusted to the care of Mr J. Starke. The music and singing were very good. The music is by Farnie and Fitzgerald, and contains many real musical gems. Miss Lydia Howarde sang the splendid aria " Bid me discourse " in excellent style, and received a vociferous encore in acknowledgement. The choruses as a whole were remarkably well sung. Mr Watty Hydes" accompanied. This evening " The Daughter of tb6 Regiment" will be produced, and tomorrow " 11.M.5. Pinafore" is to be presented. People-who fail to see this excellent troupe will miss a great treat.
