A preacher took passage m one of the Lake Erie boats on a Sunday. He had not been long on board before he applied for permission to hold a religious meeting. " JNo," saia the captain, to whom the application was made, " any minister who would travel on a Sunday isn't fit to preach on board my boat."
An Alabama editor, in puffing a grocery kept by a woman, says, " Her tomatoes are as red as her own cheeks, her indigo is as blue as her own eye's, and her pepper as hot as her own temper."
