(From This Day's Te Aroha Miner.)
THE MINES.
Te Aroha.—-Some nice specimen stone was obtained yesterday from a blow in the drire from the surface to ventilate the winze. ,
Waikato.—A new. lode has been cut in the drive. The manager; reports being into it two fact, with quartz still showing in the fate.
Sunbeam.—-The shareholders to-day started a low level, which will efficiently prospect the ground. ! Clunes.—We hear that the shareholders contemplate forwarding., a parcel of quartz to the Thames. "
Wheel of Fortune.—This claim if situated at the back of the Hot Spring! reserve, between the Don and All Nations, and owing to the vigorous work since the license was taken out, we believe the shareholders intend to give the ground a thorough good prospecting. The one ton parcel sent to the Thames for treatment gave such encouragement that the manager is putting in a low level tunnel, which will give 150 feet of backs. When cut on the surface the leader was about one foot thick, and it is expected it will be about two feet at the lower level. Operations were started under the license on January 31st, six men being employe! in three stapes, and a distance of 64 feet has been driven up to the 12th of February, which shows that the country is good working ground. About 20 feet more driving and it is expected that the drive will intersect tbV leader cut on the.surface. The shareholders have now come across a hard bar, but it is fine shooting country, and one shot now and again leaves plenty of work with gad ?.nd pick for a good while after. Their proximity to the flat, together with the prospects already received from this claim and the All Nations' reef running through the ground on the one side, and the Don on the other, holds out promise that success will attend their efforts at development.
