INVEECAEGILL.

This day

A large two-storey detached building in Fay street, belonging to Lockhart, was destroyed by fire on Saturday, the immediate cause of the conflagration being the boiling over into the furnace of an inflamable composition for felting. The building was occupied by Thomas, furniture dealer, and Comper, jeweller. All interested are well insured, the following offices being the losers:— 'New Zealand, £400 on building; Victoria, £300 on stock of Thomas, most of which was saved ; Standard and National, £100 each on Comper'a tools and furniture.
