TE AROHA.

(fbom oue own cobeespondent.)

Thursday

Thanks to the recent fine weather, the road right through to the Thames is now in excellent order, the much dreaded Komata swamp even being as dry as the proverbial bone.

The Kotokohu Gorge and bush has been very much improved by the recent works, and Mr Punch, the contractor, expects to have the creeks bridged in another fortnight. When this is done the road to Paeroa will be passable to a coach.

On Sunday Mrs Wood of this place, contrary to general prognostications, drove a four-wheeled buggy through, but, unfortunately, one of the wheels broke when the worst of the journey was over, the accident happening at the foot of Moananui's hill, about three miles from Paeroa. The lady intends carrying out her intention in a few days.

. The Tui cut the reef to-day, showing good prospects. I saw /an excellent prospect from the Who'd Have Thought It leader. The gold was very coarse, and apparently of excellent quality. I am sorry to inform you the Bonanza have ceased operations.
