This dayAustralia v. 'Wellington.
The cricket match Australians v. Wellington started this morning. The weathor was dull with a fresh southerly breeze. Wellington won the toss and elected to go in. Kennedy and Brown were first to handle the willow to the bowling of Spofforth and Palmer, the former taking the first over, off which three was scored. When Brown had scored seven he drove the ball back to Spofforth, which was accepted, 1-15-17. Speed filled the vacancy.
Kennedy is just out l.b.w.

At the adjournment for luncheon the score stood at 43. The highest not out being Blacklock 9, Salmon not out 8, Brown 7.
