George Parker was charged with a breach of the Harbour Begulatisns by allowing a .two horse dray to proceed at other than a walking, pace on the Bourke street wharf. : ;
Mr Brasee.f appeared for the defendant, and while admitting the charge, pleaded in extenuation that his client was compelled to go a little-foster in order to prevent a collision with a dray that was coming off the Bourke, street wharf. : Sergt- Major O'Grady said the charge was laid under the Ist bye-law of the Thames Harbor Board Bye-laws, and the penalty was ur»d&r the 6th and 7th byelaws. He believed that the case was as stated by Mr Brassey.
The Bench dismissed the case, but in doing so remarked that the practice of trotting on the wharf was a most reprehensible one, and should be stopped. Court adjourned.
