TE AROHA.

(Fbom To day's Te Aboha Miner.)

THE MINES

Humours are current of a discovery of alluvial gold not far from here, and we have heard a story about a pickle bottle full of nuggets. Let us hope that there is some truth in it.

All Nations. —The shareholders of this mine have done a large amount of useful work. The prospering drives are making excellent progress through a good class of country. At the point where the lode was cut in the drive, a chamber has been excavated, and a winze started on a small back seam or stringer, with what intention we could not ascertain. It is likely a winze will be started on the lode in a day or so. A rumour was current yesterday that a patch of specimens had been obtained, but on making enquiries we found such not to be the ca«e, a quantity of highly mineralised quartz probably giving rise to the story. A portion of. this stone, on being burnt and panned off, however, gave rich prospects Morning Star.—The manager reports obtaining a barrowful of stone, the majority of which showed gold freely. He says it is the Best stone yet obtained from the mine. It was obtained from a rib of quartz on the hanging -wall side of the lode, which appears to be heading into the main lode, and is expected to junction with it in about 20 feet. The country is, becoming more solid, and the lode is apparently following suit. Who'd Have Thought It.—On Wednesday the sinking of a winze at the low level on the lode was started, and on the following day a nice stone showing gold freely was picked up on the heap of quartz broken out. In the upper drive the small leader which has been crossing it diagonally for some days has gone out, and it is expected that the main lode will be to hand here in a few days.

Tui.—-The lode in the upper drive is running side by side with a slide, against which the best prospects are obtainable.
