OHINEMURI.

. (fbom ottb own cobbespondent.) Paeeoa. ' The mining news from all parts of this district is very encouraging. The old Karangahaka, the scene of the famous scramble, has been taken up by a good strong party, who intend to Rive it a trial. There is n'djgfloubt but that there is payable gold in the hill, but there is doubt if it be sored by the ordinary process. The parties who have taken up the ground say they can save the gold. Jt is to be hoped they can. At Owharoa some six new claims hare been taken up and the parties in several of them are setting in with a will. One party has started a tramway that will cost a large sum to complete, but when this is done they will be able to convey the quftttz to the mill at a cheap rate. Id the Smile of Fortune the tributers are pushing on the No. 2 drive, and are getting on some crushing, stone. The leader is small at present, but is likely to get larger as it is driven on. ■ In the Eadical, Campbell and party are getting out some good stone/equal to the last stuff crushed, and they have let a contract for putting in a low level. ■ Several other tributes have been let in th£ lame mine, and the tributers are pushing on the work. There a~re likely to be some disputes in respect to the Golden Hill, but the present owner seems satisfied with his title: Satisfactory arrangements have been come .to between Hart and party and Fraseria reference to the Old Fortune ground. This will allow work-being pOßhed on.without delay. At Waitekauri several new parties are •t work, and the test stone that was ever found in the district has come out lately. The finders, Mason and party,, deserve . their good luck, as they have stuck to the district through good and evil reports. Some new ground ha? been pegged out on the Waihi, where large reefs have been found, .and if the stone is only half as good as some people think, it will "pay well. % -'■'.' The rush to the Owharoa has sent men orer the district, and there is no. doubt

but during the summer a large amount of prospecting will be done. Several of the business people in Pacrnn hare at last wakened up to the fact that it is necessary for them to help the mining prospects of the district, and are taking shares in some the new mines.
