Under the direction of the new mano gei\ Mr Heighway, several alterations are" being made. The old balance-bob at the 300 feet level, which has not been used for some years, is being put in order, before being worked. This necessitates lightening the balance-bob at the surface, which was being done H-day, and will lighten the strain on the engine considerably, and make it work much more regularly and sicadily.
