The children and parents were driven down in Messrs Bryson and Robson's conveyances. Sports were improvised for the children and friends, who mustered to the number of one hundred' and fifty during the afternoon. Added to the usual games, horse racing was indulged in by the senior boys, who brought their horse's with them. After 5 p.m. the company went on board the p.s. Te Aroha, kindly detained at the landing by Captaiu Dalton for the purpose of. giving them a trip by the river. When landing at Paeroa, cheers were lustily given for Captain Dalton for his kindness in affording such an enjoyable trip, and to Sergt. In the evening at 8 p.m. adance washeld in (he Public Hal), which was filled. Previous to commencing dancing, Mr Adam Porter was called to the Chair, and briefly stated the object of the meeting, called upon the Misses Quinn, Annie Cock, Svelyn Moore and .tfmily Robson, who each gave a -song or a recitation. The audience seemed well ; pleased with the effortsof the young ladies if we may judge by the applause which followed. During the evening Sergeant Russell moved a hearty vote of thanks to- Mr Robson for his kindness in driving so many ladies and children to the sports, and to the ladies who contributed so much towards the day's enjoyment by providing so liberally of the good things of this life. Dancing was kept up till daylight.
