SOUTHERN CROSS.
Stoping operations have been continued on the specimen leader from the winze below, battery level. Very little gold has been^een in the stone broken out during the last fortnight, but the manager is still firhopes that he will come on a good find of specimens, as the leaders look very promising. Stoping has also been con--1 tinued on the same leader on battery level, with very favourable results. There is little change in the leaders in this part of the mine since last reported, but, taking into consideration the quartz crushed within the last three.months, aud the appearance of the leaders as they now stand, payable crushing stuff should be forthcoming for some time to come. The company are now crushing about 20 loads of stuff at the Alburnia battery, and the manager expects it to yield about loz to the load.
