ANSWER TO "EUCALYPTUS" (OE GUM TREE).

(To the Editor of the Evening Stab.) Sir,—l hold that Swedenborge and tho Demon-Spiritists are one. The imaginations of that extraordinary visionary are- the natural outcome of the Satanic He—" Thou shalt not surely die "—that lie which deceived Eve, and brought in its train all the folly and all the trouble of humanity. There could not have possibly been a better stepping-stone into the gulph of Demon - Spiritism than the wretched delusions of Emanuel Swedenborge. Consequently, what is the fact ? Why, that Swedenborgians generally find a landing on the shores"of necromancy and divination, and thus commune, not with dead men and women, for that is impossible, but with Satan and his legion of evil spirits who personate dead men " and women, and by their evil teaching deceive mankind, who listen to them to their destruction. This conclusion is no fancy of mine, but comes from the knowledge I have of Bible revelation concerning the Devil, or Satan and his angels, ' and with this knon-ledge I again affirm ' that air who keep company with Swedenborgians and Demon-ftpiritists, believing their teaching, sell themselves to the Devil, and become bis agents, and will presently ;pra.ctice every abomination under the ~J ■""&■&-. Therefore, they can come to no other -gnd in the trouble now coming on mankind than utter destruction. Of the Kingdom of God and reign of Christ over -the earth, which rapidly approaches, such ' can take no part in, or even see. The views such drivellers hold and the practices they engage in are diametrically opposed to the teaching of Israel's prophets;' and also of Christ Jesus and •. his apostles. These all with one voice condemn the practice of seeking communion with the dead for this very obvious reason—that, by so doing, Satan'a lying evil spirits are thereby given an opportunity to lead astray by their teachings those who commune with evil spirits. But ■ "Eucalyptus" will possibly say the blasphemer'merely makes assertions—he 'brings no proofs. I answer the proofs are in the Bible by dozens—yea, by hundreds, but it is not my business to search the Bibl* to bring forth proofs for Swedenborgians and Demon Spiritists. It is my business to search the Bible for my , own satisfaction, believing it to be the !- inspiration of the Deity, that I may be of what is good and true, and what is evil and abominable in the eyes of the Deity, that I may reject the evil and cleave to that which is Godly and true. It is the business of all men to do the same thing for themselves if they would be counted worthy, presently by Christ the judge aad true Lord of the earth to have a place in that coming " Kingdom of Heaven." The proxy business"is fast losing its hold on mankind because it is radically bad. The practice of making a commercial bargain with men, and of paying them, very often, large salaries to look after the ; spiritual interests of others, when, more often than not, these men teach lie's instead of truth, is fast breaking up. I would not give four years purchase for all the present salaries of ecclesiastics ; the whole system totters to its fall, and on its ruins will be built up not Swedenborgism and spiritism, but the righteous Kingdom of God and rule of Christ. I repeat men and women must now search the Scriptures for themselves, especially as the end of the age is at hand, and all living mankind one way or another are interested in that tremendous wind up. If they search these scriptures in a, reverend and honest spirit they cannot fail in getting good, thereby, by finding the truth of God. So much for the first paragraph of " E.s " letter. lam next to inform the public how I know that the resurrection and the end of the age are dose at hand. If -" G. T." had studied the Bible, and had watched the signs of these times he would not put such a question to me, but would know with myself the certainty of these facts. However, one of the biggest of all these signs ii; the fearful prevalence of Sweedenborgtsm and demon-spiritism. My letter is getting long, so with your permission I will continue my answer in future issues of your impartial journal.—l am, &c, William Wood.
