The official report of the disaster met with by a detachment of the 94th Eegiment in the Transvaal almost completely confirms the account first received. The detachment was escorting a convoy of supplies wheii it was surrounde by Boers, , I who summoned the British to surrender, and upon the latter refusing the Boers swept down on them, and 112 officers and men were killed. News comes to hand to-day of further disturbances in Ireland. A large crowd of people had assembled at a farm at Newbrook, near Claremorris> in order to prevent the service of a notice of ejectment of the tenant. A, body of police was

despatched to the scene of disturbances, and the people were ordered to disperse. tJpon their refusing to do so, the police charged with fixed bayonets upon the rioters, several of whom were severely wounded in the struggle which ensued.
