" JKauaeranga Valley, 3rd January, 1881. To the committee of the Thames Orphanage and Training School Committee. Ladies and gentlemen,—l have the honor to present my report ©f proceedings at this institution from lsb to 31st December, 1880. The present nmmber of inmates is twenty, or three less than when I last reported—Kmily, Thomas, and Maria Tomlinson having left on the 30lh instant, so that the average of the inmates has been 22 4-lOths, and the daily cost of provision for each*has been 4|fl. During the month x<e have cut the grass, and have at least two tons of hay stacked for future use, and have sown maize where the oats grew. Everything promises wjell, but .we badly need fencing. The children are all well, and are much enjoying themselves at this feHtivo

season, and I trust tbe kindness shown iv presenting them with prizes on a recent occasion will act as an incentive to greater diligence in the future. We have to acknowledge the receipt of a large Christmas cake from Mrs James Marshal], a parcel of valuable clothing from Mrs J. W. Hall, ana a number of scrap books from the inmates of,the Old Men's Refuge. Mr Frank has kindly cut the children's hair,' and will render the same Berries v/hon again asked.
