This day. A room in the Free Public Library has been set apart, for ladies.
A stock owner up North produced fleece nineteen inches long, with an average clip of nine inches.
At the Police Court to-day a person named Nathan was charged by a man named O'Connor with assaulting him m the Domain. For the defence it was attempted to show that the complainant was in the Domain with a female for an immoral purpose^ and that O'Connor watched him, and "a . dispute occurred which resulted in the assault. The Magistrate was satisfied that there was no immoral object. Persons had a perfect right to walk in the Domain without being set upon by ruffians. He sentenced the defendant to sev^n days' imprison* ment.
During the presence of Cole's, arVangements were made by Cook, the agent, with the Council for the use of the site of the barrack reserve, thereupon several leaseholders protested and took legal step to prevent the use of the site. Mr Hesketh today, on behalf of Eing, one of the leaseholders, moved for an injunction with a yiew of settling the questions of costs. The case is proceeding.
