TE AROHA MINING INTELLIGENCE.
(Feom Tk Aboha. Minib.)
TuL—Shortly after the Catran's pegged out the Omahu claim a half-caste named Goge discovered a large auriferous[reef at a point perhaps a mile distant fjjirai t&e Omahu. He communicated the fact to? the Catran Bros., who at once pegged :oftV' a claim on the line of the lode. The/ have opened in one place into the reef <fi distance of about six feet, but the hangingwall is not. yet to hand. The quarts is some of the nicest looking yet discovered in thejjoeality. A little gold has been seen. Yesterday a trial parcel of about thirty hundredweight was sent to the Thames.
Morning Star.—Good proapeets ooatinae tt come daily from the Ide,one washed yesterday being said to be the best yet obtained. Arrangements are being made for sending a trial parcel to the Thames, bat it is probable thai this will not be done till after the holidays. Te Aroha G.M.Co.—Some nice ;g»ld was obtained in the No. 1 leader to-day. The contractors hare started work on the botton level again. ,; Last Hope.—This claim, the property of Jennings and party is being vigorously prospected. The shareholders have driven 70 feet on the spnr opposite the Te Aroha Company's ground. A good* siaed lode has been intersected which shows a little gold. '% Our Boys.—The shwefitlders, Daldy Mo Williams and party; *ri»idriving for the lode intersected above. It is nine inches thick, and first class prospects have been obtained in it. The chief drawback is the hardness of the ground. Headway through this will be made after the holidays, as the shareholders intend to hare recourse to blasting. ' .' -Don.—ln our last -issue we made •/ pretty extensive reference to the working of the mine.' Since then the shareholders - here cat through the. big, reef in the lower drive. It is four feet thick, and is chiefly composed of gcod solid quartz, containing mineral usually found in bom* pany with the precious metal. One of" the party panned off. some of the casing farina both hanging-wall and foot-wall, and a^good prospect was obtained.' A little gold was seen in the rock. At present there is a good deal of rubble in the loie but it appears to get more solid downwards. -j._ A trial parcel of one ton. will be taken but after the holidays, and then the drive will be pushed ahead another thirty feet so intersect the leader put above, and which at this depth is expected to join with a small leader supposed to dip into the lode from above. The shareholders think that the junction may forma good sized auriferous reef, ene of the lodes , being proved^ be gold-bearing. Golden Wte—ln the upper drive the lode has an exceedingly promising appearance, but no gold hat been aean in it. In the lower drive a small leader of crystallised quarts was intersected yesterday from tflpch a really first class prospect'was obtained in panning off. - . -The Warden visited the Tui chum today, and brought away some of the stone which on being crushed and panned
was found to be auriferous. The Morning Star was visited by Mr Kenrick on Saturday, and. he was^shown a very fair prospect of gold from Both the rubble and stone.
