Rejection of the Totalisator.

In the Legislative Council last night the report of the select (Committee on the Totalisator Bill, which favoured the legislation of the instrument, was brought up, and a resolution embodying the report of the Committee wa3 put to the House, but it was rejected.

A firm of merchants, agents for Messrs Clayton and Shuttleworth, the well-known agricultural implement makers of England, against whom proceedings were taken for passing false invoices, have paid a fine of £1000 to the Customs.
