This day. The brigantine Magellan Cloud was sold today for £550.
Several respectably-connected larrikins were charged at the Police Court with maliciously injuring some property. Two were fined. Sailed: Hinemoa, for Wellington; Penguin, for the South.
Monday. Owing to the recent accident, Sinking Fund has been shot. % The teachers of the Auckland Training School for teachers hare presented Mr Wortbington, who retires from the post of principal, with a handsome silver salver.
The examination of candidates for the scholarships otomuaenced to-day. There were six candidates for the three open scholarships, 109 for eight district scholarships, namely, 74 boys and 35 girls. Wellesley-streetEastsends 42 boys and 16 girls. The following schools are represented :—Wellesley street, Beres'ord* street, Newton East, Graf ton Road, PoiTsonby, Mount Eden, Devonport, Mount Hobson (girls), Onehunga, Tararu, Coromandel, Northcote, Tuakau, Te Awarautu, .ffautapa, Paparoa, Waiuku, Wellsford, Kaiikati No. 2, and Cambridge. The Her. J. S. Hill left by the Waitaki for Tauranga to day, en route for .Napier.
